About Me

My name is Cole Sage. I’m a 19 year old birder living in Denver, Colorado. I got interested in birding in January of 2017, and began chasing rarities (rare birds) in October of 2017. Before 2017 I enjoyed watching birds with my grandmother at her feeders. Watching the movie The Big Year during Christmas of 2016 inspired me to start keeping a list of the birds I was seeing. Once I saw all the species that I could in my back yard, I started going elsewhere to find new birds.

I consider my home base for birding to be Arapahoe County in Colorado. To date I’ve birded extensively in Colorado east of the Rocky Mountains. In addition, I’ve birded in Arizona, Michigan, Montana, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming. My favorite birding location so far has been the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas.

I’m excited to introduce others to birding, especially young people like me.
